Senegal is one of the main economies of West Africa. For historical reasons, it is also CIRAD’s main cooperation country in the region, and naturally hosts CIRAD’s West Africa-Dry Zone Regional Office. CIRAD’s scientific strategy in this country is implemented in line with Senegal’s major economic, social and environmental challenges: sustainable agricultural and rural development to guarantee food security and alleviate poverty.
