During the manufacturing process, burrs that can cause erratic ignition are often left inside the case at the flash hole.
Redding now manufactures two different tools for removal of flash hole burrs. Both tools use pilot stops.

The small tool is for .17 & .20 cal. and cases with small (.060”) flash holes. This tool does not control the cutting depth. The operator must control the cutting depth using the small pilot stops for 9/64” mandrels.

Note: Uses case pilot stops for 9/64” mandrels.

The Redding Flash Hole Deburring Tool is an excellent tool for reloaders looking to increase consistency and reduce variations from case to case know the importance of using a flash hole deburring tool. When brass is manufactured there are burrs that are sometimes created when the flash hole is tapped out. This tool quickly removes that burr creating more consistent ignition. This process only needs to be done once for the complete life of a piece of brass.

Burrs left on the inside of the flash hole during manufacturing can cause erratic ignition. This handy tool automatically locates the hole and quickly removes the burr. A self-centering pilot collar with an adjustable stop allows quick alignment and prevents the removal of too much brass. It includes a Case Pilot Stop.
